Why Are Politicians Afraid of Competition - Handpicking Opponents

WHY ARE POLITICIANS AFRAID OF COMPETITION? Part 2 – Handpicking Opponents

5. Handpick their Opponent. If all of the above fail in the politicians attempt to kill any and all competition there’s one more trick they often try. If after running thru the anti-competition gauntlet above and an opponent succeeds in getting -and staying- on the ballot, the politician and his cronies will handpick another “opponent”. One that helps the entrenched politician. Preferably one with the same last name in order to confuse the voter with the hope that the true opponent candidate (John Smith) will lose hundreds if not thousands of votes to the politicians hand picked candidate (also named John Smith). Split the opposition vote and entrenched politician wins. Unfair, and undemocratic, but a tactic that’s used all to often.

So there you have it. Lessons straight from the politician’s competition killing playbook. Convinced we need to change the rules of the game? We absolutely do.
